In late July we went to a high school friend's wedding. While there, we got to spend time with another friend from high school, Rik and his wife Kristen. Rik began to tell Danny about the (mini) triathlon (400 yard swim, 13.6 mile bike and 5k run) he was going to be doing at Lake Blackshear the same weekend of our 15 year class reunion. Well, Danny thought a triathlon sounded like a great idea, so he told Rik he would do it with him. Did I mention that 1. the class reunion was only 3 weeks away; 2. Danny had not been training for a triathlon; 3. Danny couldn't even remember the last time he had even ran...much less did any long distance running. "How hard could it be," he thought.
I'm very proud to say he finished the race and he wasn't the last one over the finish line! I don't remember his exact time, but regardless, to even finish the race with as little as 3 weeks training in remarkable in my book!
